Let’s face it, any makeup look is just blaaah without mascara. I’m talking mascara that gives you those VA VA VOOM lashes to go with that eyeshadow you’ve worked so hard on all day. Up until falling really hard for ILIA Beauty’s mascaras in Nightfall and Asphalt Jungle I never really cared for mascara, but now that I see the effects that it gives my lashes I really can’t ever go without it. I’ve sort of turned into a somewhat vain gal (at least I’m honest) where I even find myself popping on some mascara just for a store run so you know voluminous lashes are something like a big deal in around these parts! But although ILIA’s mascaras are my first loves I longed for a natural mascara that would lengthen and give me volume too, so in came Benecos’ Natural Maximum Volume mascara to the rescue… Or did it?
Benecos Natural Volume mascara in Deep Black is described as a “Rich black color [that] fills out lashes especially for sensitive eyes”. I would describe this mascara as a really dark black mascara that is clearly visible on the lashes, which I love. This mascara did not transfer to my eyelids from my top lashes but I found that this did transfer to my under eye area when worn on my bottom lashes which meant only one thing, raccoon eyes. It wasn’t excessive but I never like the feeling of glancing in the mirror and seeing tiny black marks on top of my under eye concealer.
This mascara comes packaged in a pretty simple plastic black tube with white writing. I really like the sleek and simple packaging even though sometimes I can get caught up in really fancy packaging but for a mascara that really isn’t necessary. I also really love the simplicity of the wand after dealing with ILIA’s rather unique wand, which often resulted in minor splashes of my mascara on my palms after rushing around trying to force the mascara wand back into the tube when running late.
Now as for the “maximum” volume claim… This mascara gives my short and sparse lashes some nice length and lots of volume. I wouldn’t classify the volume I get from this mascara as “maximum” but it does give me very nice and volumized lashes that really stand out yet are not too dramatic and not too subtle either. I definitely have been loving this mascara on my top lashes since I don’t experience any transferring then and this is the first natural mascara that I own that gives me any volume at all, so those reasons alone are why I’ve been reaching for this mascara more often than my others.
Have any of you tried this mascara? Next on my list is to try out the new Kjaer Weis mascara that everyone’s raving about. Let me know in the comment section below which mascara you’ve been reaching for the most lately too! Or if there are any mascaras that you would recommend for me to try next.
