DIY All Natural Homemade Lip Plumping Gloss

DIY All Natural Homemade Lip Plumping GlossIf you’re looking for a more passionate pout, it’s time to raid your kitchen cupboards and do it yourself! I’ve tried several store-bought products and they either burned my lips or didn’t work at all. Fool me once, shame on me, but fool me twice? No thank you!
I’m a lover of all things DIY for two reasons; 1- I know exactly what it’s made of and 2 – It’s cheap! With so many expensive beauty products on the market it doesn’t hurt to be savvy! With that in mind, I came up with a fabulously cheap and effective homemade lip plumping gloss recipe. To recreate this recipe you will need:- 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
– 1/4 teaspoon Ground Ginger
– 2 tablespoons 100% Virgin Coconut Oil
– 1-2 drops Peppermint Essential OilCayenne pepper will inflame your lips to give them a more swollen appearance. Ginger has a very similar effect as it irritates the vessels in your lips to help them grow.

Nobody likes the feeling of dry, parched lips which is where coconut oil comes in. Coconut oil will provide your lips with a glossy shine that moisturizes and nourishes.

Finally, peppermint oil works twofold. It will help soothe the tingling sensation you may feel from the cayenne and ginger while also providing you with fresh breath. Tell me, how many plumping glosses do you know that do all that for you?

The process for making this gloss is simple. You will need two different sized pots. Fill the larger pot with water, but not so much that when you place the smaller pot inside it will overflow. Bring the water to a boil and then add your coconut oil, cayenne pepper and ground ginger to the small pot. Let the contents come to a simmer then add in your peppermint essential oil and stir for another 20 seconds or so.

Pour the contents into a small container and let it cool down. Using your finger or a cotton swab, do a little spot test to make sure you don’t have any adverse reactions. Once you know it’s safe, go ahead and slather on your plumping gloss.

A Few Helpful Hints

If tingly isn’t your thing, add a few drops of raw honey to your mix. Honey will soothe, moisturize and taste great!

Not into clear gloss? Grab your trusty mineral powder blush and add a teaspoon to your gloss. It will add just enough color to bring some life to your newly plumped pout.

Oooh! I love this! I make my own lip glosses and lip balms but never thought about making a ‘plumping’ one. Since giving up my more unnatural make up I have missed the plumping glosses as I am a bit lacking in lippage!
Can’t wait to make this myself, thanks for the great post :-)
