It should be obvious how much I love lip products by now, but I just loooove lipsticks, glosses, lip pencils, lip crayons, basically anything that goes onto the lips that adds color to boot. I especially love mixing my lip products to come up with all sorts of shades and variations because its really all about making a lipstick work for you. Right? I don’t really believe that certain skin tones are limited to certain lipstick shades and because of this I’ve always made my lipsticks work for me by either the help of lip liners or even mixing them to make up my own creations which reminds me a lot of my first love, painting.
Since I’ve been wearing this lipstick for awhile now I decided that I’d introduce you to my friend (and yes, my lipsticks are all my friends sadly). ILIA Beauty’s Lipstick in “Humble Me” is a lipstick that is described as a “honey-brown” that can ” neutralize and disguise even the most promiscuous lip.” I would describe this lipstick as a peachy tan nude color that would work perfectly as is for a very fair complexion. This lipstick is like a higher end dupe for Honeybee Gardens lipstick in Karma which is also a peachy nude tone too.
I especially love using this lipstick as a base for other lipsticks because of VERY pigmented so it easily mutes out the pigmentation on my lips so that the real color of any lipstick right out of the tube has a chance to show through. As a nude I prefer wearing this lipstick with my favorite gloss that I pair with most of my nudes from 100% pure called Cocoa Berry. Wearing these two together is the ultimate nude combo for me because the lipstick mutes out my lips while the lip gloss puts back in hints of pink that turns out to be really pretty together. I also mix this with ILIA Beauty’s Ink Pot and it lightens it up to a very pretty purplish pastel lavender color that is perfect for this spring.
I found that this lipstick is a little drier than the other ILIA Beauty lipsticks I own so I always apply this with a lip balm underneath. This lipstick is almost entirely matte yet still has a very slight sheen to it. This is entirely opaque when built up and lasted about 6 hours on me.
Overall, I like this lipstick because I am the kind of person to always try to find ways to make a lipstick work for me, but this is not a lipstick that I would wear straight out of the tube because it does wash me out. But for a much fairer complexion this may be your perfect nude, which we all know can sometimes be so hard to find!
