So, I know that by the time I actually post this the holidays would have passed or are happening right as I post this because my timing is always off. I must do better! (New Years resolution maybe?) But I really didn’t want to review this palette until I actually spent some time with it, so I took it with me when I traveled back home because it is so compact and basically has everything you need to create an endless amount of looks. And boy did I create an endless amount of looks, I was in eye shadow heaven because this palette has a great range of colors especially for someone like me who really loves her neutrals.
But let’s talk about the packaging because although I’d like to think that I would absolutely love a product wrapped in bamboo packaging over something that came in something quite spectacular, I’d be lying to myself. I truly am a sucker for packaging so when I saw the rose gold packaging of this palette I nearly flipped my lid. Call me vain but I much rather whip out a product that showcases just how glam I am rather than how earthy or tree hugging I can be, but that’s just me. Jane Iredale’s Glamour Eyes and Lips palette comes in a rose gold casing that fits nicely in the palm of your hand and when you open it up you are wowed by the really beautiful colors in the palette as well as the nicely sized mirror it comes with for touch ups on the go.
Jane Iredale’s Glamour Eye and Lip Palette is described as a palette that is “Elegantly packaged in a rose gold mirrored compact, it gives you the chance to try eye and lip shades of all colors. You will never be without that color you only use once in a while but you must have right now! “. This palette comes with 15 eyeshadows and 15 lip glosses and lipsticks and the names of each of them that are included in the palette are as follows:
PurePressed Eye Shadows
Lights: Oyster, Wink, Hush, Rose Gold, Dreamy Pink
Smoky: Platinum, Cappuccino, Supernova, Merlot, Double Espresso
Brights: Magic, Caribbean, Violet Eyes, Blue Hour, Red Carpet
Neutrals: Sarah, Kaylee
Pinks and Corals: Liz, Lucy, Madison, Abigail, Rikki
Reds and Mauves: Naomi, Margi, Theresa
PureGloss Lip Gloss
Shimmering: Snow Berry, Beach Plum, Pink Candy
Sheer: Bellini, Crabapple
I really loved the neutrals in this palette the most because I got a lot of use out of them for some everyday looks that I was able to create. Most of the eyeshadows were very pigmented and lasted fairly well on my lids throughout the day. I did not really dive into the lipsticks and lip glosses as much as I have the eyeshadows because I swear this palette has awoken a deep love for eyeshadows that I never knew I had! I did however use some of the lipsticks as blushes (which are super pigmented btw) on my sister when I did her makeup when I went back home and they seemed to work very well for that too. A palette of this kind really is so unique to the green beauty community since palettes are usually hard to come by for us, but I really think this particular palette is awesome since it offers something for just about anything.
But now for the cons (since by now you guys know that I can’t do a review without giving you the real scoop on a product), the eyeshadows and lip products in this palette are quite small compared to how much this palette cost. It retails for about $75 so you can imagine how surprised I was when I saw exactly how small the amount of eye shadow and lip products were. Granted this palette is awesome because of the array of colors it offers and the quality of the actual products in it, but it is a bit pricey. But if you do have the money to splurge on this I would recommend it because you would actually get a lot of use out of it. It is also a great way to try out different products before purchasing the full sizes, which I plan to do soon after trying out some colors that I really love. This is an awesome palette overall!
