Natural Makeup: What is the best liquid foundation?

Image: Archard & Associates

I can’t say that I’ve tried thousands of foundations and that I’m such an expert when it comes to all things foundation because I’d be bluffin’. I’m getting into makeup now and I’m absolutely loving it! Watching thousands of YouTube makeup application videos, reading thousands of reviews on particular (natural) makeup brands, and adding tons of products to my ever growing wishlist has added to my growing obsession with all things makeup. But I’ve recently found what seems like thee best liquid foundation both ingredient wise and for my skin type.

Finding a foundation that is perfect for you is a hard task in itself but finding a perfect all natural foundation is a whole other story. But I’ve recently found a liquid foundation that has been the answer to my skin and makeup starter kits dreams, that I am entirely content with. If you’re still on the search for a fabulous all natural liquid foundation you’ve come to the right place!

What is this foundation you speak of you say? Well here it is:

Ladies and gentlemen (if wearing makeup is your thing too fellas) I introduce to you…. Real Purity’s Creme Foundation “Health Glow” and dum dum dummmm... This stuff will absolutely. Blow. Your. Mind. Please forgive me, I tend to get pretty dramatic when I fall in love with a product so I don’t mean to queue the dramatics but this stuff is truly amazing. This foundation boosts an ingredient list of just 6 and still manages to pack a mean punch. I truly love this stuff, and I know Real Purity calls this a “creme” foundation but I would say that the consistency is more like a liquid, although it can be on the thick side, which comes in a squeeze tube bottle exactly like this ———->

What does it do for my skin?:

I have really dry desert-like skin so this creamy, “mc-dreamy” (Grey’s Anatomy anyone?) foundation just melts into my skin and doesn’t make my makeup look cakey at ALL. It gives my skin a smooth finish and it also makes it feel smooth as well. This foundation also provides just enough coverage for me which seems to be quite build-able depending on how much of it you use. The foundation boosts a coverage of light to medium coverage and I believe this because there have been times where I’ve been a bit heavy handed with this foundation and this bad boy covered it all. So I would say that the coverage is definitely build-able.

Shade range?:

This foundation also has a shade for everyone and I love this because I’ve found that many all natural foundations have like 2 to 3 shades the most which can be  so very frustrating. A lot of them seem to cater to more lighter/fairer skin tones which is so blah for a girl like me with a deeper skin tone. This made me contemplate making my own foundation line for women with darker skin tones until I found this one.

The shade that was best for me?:

I purchased my foundation in the shade Tropical and also recently a sample in the shade Spice to try since it is just a shade darker than Tropical. I did this because I’ve been watching a heck of a lot of YouTube videos on foundation application and this video in particular helped me with my dilemma in finding the perfect shade for me. I haven’t been blessed with being able to find my perfect shade in one bottle of foundation so I have to mix and match a shade a little lighter and a little darker than my skin tone to get the perfect shade. In the near future I will be posting some tips and tricks for foundation application for dry skin but in the mean time check out this Youtube video by NikkieTutorials here.

Ingredients: Distilled Water, Kosher Vegetable Glycerin, Kaolin Clay, Pure Rice Bran Oil, Iron Oxide, Zinc Oxide – All Real Purity Foundations are SPF 15 (Forgot to mention that it boosts a SPF of 15 and we all know how sunscreen-spiked makeup is  such a great thing and Real Purity’s makeup is not nano-sized so sweet!

EWG score: 1

Final verdict: Will I re-purchase? Yes! This will forever be apart of my makeup collection.

  1. Ohh, what? I want! I have been hunting for a HG foundation of sorts (liquid or powder) and haven’t fallen in love yet. Liquid is too mask-like and powder is too cakey depending on the season. Thanks for the great review, officially subscribed!

  3. […] definitely missing after I applied my foundation and concealer and not much else face wise. My foundation did what it was supposed to do which was give me a nice fresh yet very blank canvas to work with […]

I tried a sample of this last year, and it dried my skin kut through the day.

Aw! That sucks. This foundation has worked awesome for me but I have heard that some haven’t experienced the best results. It’s always so hard to find a great foundation let alone a natural one! Thanks for your comment.

Though this is an older post, Real Purity still happens to be a terrific company. I’ve spoken to the head of the company, RJ Easterling, grandson of the original founder and formulator of the products.

They are a very wholesome company that has existed almost solely on word of mouth because the products are so good (incidentally, great mascara too with very few ingredients).

Real Purity was one of the first companies to manufacture products without tons of chemicals and toxic ingredients. Hence, they really do live up to their name.

Happy to see that you are a fan too, Audreiana. And I too love the Health Glow foundation. It’s just great.

Hey Sarita! I definitely heard some aaamazing things about their mascara actually, and I have yet to try it, idk what I’ve been thinking lol. I’ve loved all of the products I’ve tried so far especially the foundation. Thanks for your comment!
