Review: Natracare Organic Cotton Intimate Wipes

Hey, I’m back with a not so favorable review for the Natracare intimate wipes I purchased late last month in my mini Earth Fare haul. I don’t want any of you to think I am a Debbie downer or anything but if I don’t like a product you all will be the first to hear about it. And I won’t sugar coat it much either so just expect only honest reviews over here at this blog.

I so desperately wanted to like these but I just couldn’t. Let’s face it, we all want to find that product that is our holy grail product so the endless search for the perfect one that actually works can come to a dramatic end. If we’re lucky it sometimes happens right off, but only in a perfect world will we actually get it right the first go around every. single. time.

I initially purchased these because I like to carry wipes around in my purse for bathroom stops where tissue alone never cuts it for me. I also like to keep some in my bathroom at home to keep fresh as well. I formally was using baby wipes for this task but even something that is supposed to be as gentle as baby wipes that are supposed to be safe enough for small children can be riddled with harmful chemicals. Just thinking about that fact angers my humanitarian side and makes me want to stand outside somewhere with picket signs ready to protest.

It’s a really sad realization when you think about the poor babies that are being exposed to this stuff without really having a choice in the matter. This is why I am on a mission to find some all natural cleansing wipes that I actually like and that work out great for me, but these were so not thee ones.

First off, these wipes did not have a fresh scent. They smelled pretty funky right out of the bag and it wasn’t a strong herbal scent, which would be the thing to turn me off anyways, it was just a really unpleasant scent from the get go. Not to be too graphic but I want to give you a better idea of what these wipes actually smell like, they sort of smelled like someone had already used them to wipe themselves and the company still went ahead and packaged and shipped them off. Gross, I know but I’m not even sure how to describe the actual scent to you because my fragrance descriptive vocab is very much lacking unfortunately. I checked to see if the wipes came in other scents but they don’t. Bummer.

I also noticed that the wipes were not really wet, they were slightly damp but not really like the wipes I am used to cleansing with. They were almost on the dry side which really defeated the purpose of using a wipe. This made me so glad there were only 12 wipes to a pack so I wouldn’t feel too bad about tossing the ones I had left before finishing the pack out.

I was pretty down about not liking this product since the ingredients seemed pretty good and their other products scored a 1 on EWG but the things that were wrong with this product really out weighed the good. They were also a really good price as well so double bummer! But hey, I just need to find some new ones to try and I already have an idea of which to try next so I will definitely be letting you know once I get them.

I had to give up wipes. I read some research that they aren’t really flushable as often advertised. Also unless it says how long they take to biodegrade they aren’t really biodegradable. Eg if it takes 100 yrs to biodegrade then we’ll still have to deal with it as pollution. Sucks I know.

Hey Hazel, I didn’t even consider any of that so thanks for sharing! I tend to use makeup wipes still yet I only have them on hand for removing swatches I do for the blog and also for those nights where I am super duper tired and don’t feel like doing my full skin care routine at night and I really need to remove my makeup. Bad I know! Thank you for your comment.
