Zuzu Luxe’s lip gloss in Mania ($18.15 0.25 oz) is described as a “long-lasting lip gloss [that] gives your pout brilliant shine and color for hours.”
It certainly gives you a lot of shine and a lot of color because Zuzu Luxe’s lip gloss in Mania is amazingly pigmented and super glossy. It is a very bold color that is build able. You can play it down or up if you just want a sheer wash of color. But if you’re like me and are loving the dark and bold vampy lip for this fall/winter you can just pile on the gloss!
I would describe this shade as a vampy purple with red undertones. Sometimes it even appears burgundy in certain lighting but when layered on it can appear almost true to tube (which made it pretty hard to get an accurate swatch of because you need good lighting for a good photo but hey, I got pretty close to it). I fell in love with the pigment, consistency, and of course the color instantly! The vampy lip is very on trend right now so I was really excited to try this out, and plus I’m a huge fan of the show True Blood and this instantly puts me in the mind of that show when I wear it.
The consistency is that of a gloss yet it is not sticky or tacky like some glosses can be. It is also very smooth and offers your lips tons of shine. It doesn’t feel grainy on the lips and the color payoff is pretty great for this just to be a gloss (and a natural one at that!) .
I was able to get around 3 hours of wear out of this which isn’t too bad for a gloss but I wouldn’t consider this very long wearing as the company describes it considering how pigmented this gloss is. The color wasn’t as vibrant and glossy after this amount of time elapsed but this gloss does stain the lips. The texture is smooth and I was able to get pretty good even color coverage with it. It applied evenly and smoothly and is pretty pigmented to be a gloss but it is semi-translucent as you can still see through to the lips a bit.
I love how this gloss just glides on and I definitely love the color payoff but it does tend to bleed/feather so I found it hard to keep it within the lines of my lips. In one instance the application was rather messy because it ended up on other places outside of my lips and it was hard to remove the stain there. This was pretty annoying but I like the gloss none the less.
I’m really loving the dark lip this fall/winter. What about any of you, are you into the dark vampy lip? If so, would you consider it in a gloss? Let me know in the comments section. Or just comment to say hello
